Library Director

Riley Moreland

In 2016 I retired after 30 years in banking and IT, but soon after found a new niche as the director of the Sidney Public Library.  Being around book lovers and books is a dream job!  Outside of library hours, I read.  A lot.  I also I review what I love so that others might find something great to read.  I publish my reviews on the blog Whiskey With My Book.

I grew up in Nebraska, but I’ve lived in this area since I married my husband Ray in 1998.  We live in Anderson with dogs Kellen and Becket, and maybe a few cats.

The public library in Beatrice, Nebraska is the first library I loved.  A Carnegie library, it seemed gigantic to me as a child.  So many books, not enough time!  There, I discovered science fiction when I read The Enchantress from the Stars by Sylvia Engdahl.  While scifi is my favorite I enjoy all sorts of escapist fiction.
