Due to limited staff, it is unrealistic for us to perform any personal genealogy or historical research. We do have seven public Internet Access computers available for public searching.
This library does house the following books: History of Fremont County, Iowa; Fremont County, Iowa Cemetery Records; a 1996 Thumbprints in Time, Fremont County, Iowa; and a brochure with some early records of Fremont County, including 1850 Federal Census, tax list-marriages-biographies. If there is any pertinent information in any of these materials, we would be happy to relay them onto you for the cost of copying and postage. Books on histories of various Iowa counties have been donated to our library. Some Sidney High School Yearbooks are also available to peruse.
We do not have any old newspapers or microfilm records.
The Fremont Historical Society is located in Sidney at 801 Indiana. It would be best to call 712-374-3248 for their schedule. Our county courthouse has most birth, death, and marriage records after 1880. The new Rodeo Museum, built in 2012, is located at 607 Cass, Sidney, Iowa.
